Continuous casting (CC) is a process of producing an infinite solid strand from liquid steel by continuously solidifying it as it moves through a CC machine. It is the predominant process route in a modern steel plant which links steelmaking with hot rolling of steel.
THE CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE (CCM) / BILLET CASTER / CONCAST MACHINE / BLOOM CASTER / SLAB CASTER. The Continuous Casting Machine / Billet Casting Machine / Concast Machine is an equipment to convert liquid steel into cast semis of the desired size.
Advantages: continuous cast iron vs. steel
- Reduced weight.
- Faster machining speeds for improved productivity.
- Longer tool life.
- Better surface finish.
- Compact, lead-free chips.
- Minimized deburring.
- No directionality of mechanical properties.
- Enhanced wear resistance.

Continuous casting (CC) has been widely accepted as the most important production process in the steel industry. In the casting process, molten steel from the ladle flows through the tundish into a mould. Within the mould, the molten steel freezes against the water-cooled copper mould walls forming a solid shell.
The biggest is the cost of setup. Due to both the high cost of creating a mold and the time spent setting up the machine for each project, it is not practical to use this method for small quantities or for special shapes of a product.
